About the books ...
The aim of the Match2Match series is to provide a comprehensive, definitive history of Manchester United F.C. Each volume is the result of painstaking research through both national and regional newspaper archives as well as drawing upon the wealth of books printed on United.
The central core of each book are match commentaries from every competitive first team game played in the season, allowing the reader to follow the season “as it happened”. Each season is reviewed in detail, with further sections concentrating on players' profiles, the reserves and youth teams.
The series will not follow a chronological order, instead the focus will be on specific periods in United's history.
About the author ...
Paul Nagel is a life-long United fan who has followed the side the length and breadth of England, and across Europe.
Together with Tim Ashmore, he designed and manages the popular unitedkits website, devoted to the kits worn by the club since 1878. Paul has contributed to “The Worst Football Kits Of All Time” (Dave Moor, The History Press, 2011) and “The Big Book of United” (various, James Ward, 2011).
The re-discovery of his childhood scrap albums several years ago prompted Paul to research the club's history and the Match2Match series is the result.
Paul first visited Old Trafford during the 1967/68 season, making it a logical choice for the first volume in the series.
